Jim Webb is a Democratic Senator that was chosen by the residents of Virginia to serve in the United States Senate. Prior to being elected to the U.S. Senate, Senator Jim Webb was a very successful Vietnam veteran, who served as an infantry officer in the Marine Corps. Following the completion of his military service, Senator Webb worked as the Assistant Secretary of Defense for the Reagan administration.
Subsequently, he served as the Secretary of the Navy. His experience in the military and working for the Reagan administration helped to provide him with the experience necessary to represent Virginia in the Senate. In addition, Senator Webb is a well known author and has completed many books. He was elected to the Senate in 2006 and currently serves on a number of Senate Committees.
Senator Jim Webb currently serves on the Foreign Relations Committee within the United States Senate. He was appointed to be the East Asia and Pacific Affairs Subcommittee chairman. As a result, Senator Webb oversees all issues, concerns, and legislation that are brought before the East Asia and Pacific Affairs subcommittee. He is also on the Senate Committee on Armed Forces and was named the chairman of the Personnel Subcommittee.
In addition, Senator Webb serves on the Joint Economic Committee and the Veterans' Affairs Committee. He encourages economic fairness for every citizen of the United States. He also promotes transparency within the government and accountability. Senator Jim Webb advocates veteran' rights and seeks to improve conditions for these individuals.
